I generally attend welsh classes as often as I can, and my Welsh teacher is Liz, who is an ardent bike rider and a fun, smart and devoted teacher.
It's not the easiest language with its multitude of mutations and weird sounds but you have to love its sing-songy quality, and it's a night when you can be guaranteed a laugh from the 'dosbarth' - class! Interestingly, Wales, albeit being a small country, has a strong environmental movement and connection to the beautiful rugged (craggy) Welsh landscape, and of course being the home of Doctor Who and Eisteddfords, some eco-eccentricity is bound to fit in well! As this site is all about encouraging sustainability from a range of story-telling and creative perspectives, here is a link to one of Liz' posts where she waxes lyrical about bike-riding. Do watch out for Liz peddling between Coburg and the city of Melbourne on her red bike, with her red and white polka dot helmet and her bike riding outfit to match. She puts me to shame on my rusty vintage purple bike with white handle-bars and bland silver helmet. I must lift my game and become more eco chic like Liz!
