Converse Conserve
Hello All
Today I came across the most inspiring Youtube Video that explains changes in our climate. The video reminded me how our site is ALL about delivery. (It's not what you say - but HOW you DELIVER IT). Teachers are the best.
I simply had to share the video above _ El Nino - La Nina explanatory brilliance. It contains a globe, a pen, a hair dryer, a fish tank filled with water and two types of cooking oil, and a very clever teacher who made my day. I had literally just watched about 5 more technical videos - that left me bamboozled, flabberghasted, muddled, mystified, and you can imagine the rest. But this video is exquisite in its simplicity and clarity.
Thank you Brandie.

Note: For many years (admittedly we had a break for some years), Converse Conserve has been a site about how we talk about conservation, pollution abatement and climate change. Environmentalists to some degree have changed up their styles of green messaging. But the mood underpinning campaigns is still bleak.
This site features activities that promote environmentalism, environmental heroes (some outrageous stunts), uplifting cartoons, photography, games galore, campaign story-telling, direct action/crowd groundswells, do it yourself (art from upcycled materials, gardening) scenarios. It's more inspiring to demonstrate your efforts - without having to harp on the 'do's and don'ts', as most environmental messaging becomes very REPETITIVE and wordy so people tend to tune out.
In the press, on social media, or at the coal face: in Schools, the work-place, it helps if we can build fun and creativity in to the process to stir up behaviour change - by the usage of (right brain) sub-conscious tools to appeal to emotions of those resisting behaviour change. More below....
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Environmental education games and projects raise awareness at school, on camps, workplace and community actions (Fundraisers) and at home. At Converse Conserve.com, we feel the more wholistic and MULTI DIMENSIONAL the learning is, the more likely the information will be imprinted in the child's sub-conscious and conscious mind.

THE ADAPTATION MESSAGE !
Across the world - the conversation is forming around the theme of resilience and adaptation to climate change. The global conversation has focussed more on mitigation and abatement to prevent climate change (consume less meat, reduce packaging, take public transport - all to reduce waste, pollution and emissions). With no Planet B, we know we have to both REDUCE our footprint and ADAPT to climate change. These goals cannot be mutually exclusive. So the aim is to draw on what is happening around the world, and to draw on comparisons. It's the writer of this website's position that not enough is being done around the world to adapt to run-away climate change, without wanting to sound too preachey of course. So we have to be careful about the messages we use here too.
